Living My Best Life is the new draft strategy (plan) by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Stoke-on-Trent Clinical Commissioning Group for everyone with a learning disability in the city.

Living My Best Life was co-produced with adults, children and young people with learning disabilities, parents and carers.

You can download the ‘Easy Read’ summary version of the strategy by hitting the download button below:

A public consultation (to find out what people think of it) was held in January and February 2021. After people had their say about the draft plan, a final version was written and launched at the start of Learning Disability Awareness Week in June 2021.

***NOTE*** Everything below this point on the page is from the public consultation on ‘Living My Best Life’. We have left this information here so you can see how people were supported to speak up, and get involved in talking about the draft strategy.

This page has lots of information and downloads to help you think about Living My Best Life and share your ideas about it. The original strategy can be found at https://www.stoke.gov.uk/xfp/form/1502

The clear information or ‘Easy Read’ version of this draft strategy (plan) was written by Reach. Press the download button to get Living My Best Life in ‘Easy Read’ with words and pictures.

The plan is very big. To help you think about it and share your ideas, Reach have written 6 Briefing Notes about the main ideas in Living My Best Life. The Briefing Notes are shorter documents about those big ideas.

Briefing Note 6 is different to the others. It has some information about some of the ideas people with learning disabilities and family carers said needed to be in the plan. These are advocacy and speaking up, working together and staff training and supporting people with learning disabilities who are parents or carers.

Reach have written a Questions booklet to help you think about the plan. You can fill it and send it to Reach, or contact them to talk about your ideas. Contact details are on the last page of the Questions booklet.
